A New Team Member!

A New Team Member!

Towards the end of July this year, I started experiencing business burnout. Managing daily operations, packing/shipping, inventory, and social media is draining...very draining! On top of running People of Color, I still have a family and home to tend to, kids to keep busy, preschool and kindergarten homework to complete, and eventually make time for myself.

In August, managing the brand’s social media started to slide down the priority scale and it became more of a chore—content suffered, engagement was low, and I felt our account was boring. I have wanted to fire myself from managing the daily aspects of social media and overall strategy/planning for quite a while, but it was never the right time, nor could I afford to do so.

After listening to a business strategy session by Jake Tayler Jacobs, I was given a vision on how I would be able to bring on a Head of Marketing in a creative way that was beneficial to both of us!

At the end of August, I presented this idea to a long-time friend and former business partner to see if she would be interested in the position, and she was! On September 2, I onboarded Brittinee Phillips, as our new Head of Marketing for People of Color.

While we both work to build out our new marketing department, this will allow me to start to step more into my role as CEO and executing the overall long-term strategy and growth plans for People of Color.

Please join me in welcoming Brittinee to the team and bringing her expertise in overall marketing growth and strategy execution for the brand!
